Garnet derives its name from the seed of pomegranate called granatum. It was believed that good luck follows people who are given garnet and bad luck follows those who steal it. In the olden times, it was a stone which was used to keep the demons, phantoms and devils away. Garnets have been used across the world from Czechoslovakia to Sumeria to Sweden. These stones were also a part of the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations. According to mythology, Noah’s ark had a large garnet on it to provide light.
